Although we all use online encyclopedias like Wikipedia for everyday information, we often skip over scholarly encyclopedias. If you're new to a topic, seeing what you can find related to a band, artist, or genre is worth seeing. Entries can provide keywords and, most helpfully, usually include a bibliography to existing sources.
