Finding books with LCSH Subject Headings

When conducting research on the history of a geographic location, it is often useful to identify books by browsing Library of Congress Subject Headings related to the topic. The following headings are particularly useful for Ohio history: 

Finding Scholarly Articles

The first stop for scholarly articles should be Search Libraries. However, many local historical societies publish small journals that may not be indexed in Search.Libraries, JSTOR, or Google Scholar. For comprehensive research on niche topics, consult the databases America: History and Life and the OhioLINK Electronic Journal Center in addition to Search.Libraries. (For example, the articles from the journal Northwest Ohio History (available in print in the library) are described individually in American History and Life but not in Search.Libraries).
