WRCM 112 – Argumentation and Persuasion: Stay organized: Citation management

Citation management

Organizing your sources will facilitate your writing process; to that end, citation management software is a great option!

You can learn more about some of the software tools available to you below; for further information on these and other tools, and on citation in general, please refer to our Citation guide.

RefWorks

RefWorks is ProQuest's cloud-based citation management software; our subscription to ProQuest allows you to maintain a RefWorks account after graduation! RefWorks allows users to:

  • Search library catalogs, including OBIS and OhioLINK;
  • Store references in .pdf format, and make annotations;
  • Search the full text of saved references, and save searches;
  • Generate reference lists that comply with a variety of citation styles; and
  • Share folders to collaborate with others

Visit the RefWorks website to learn more.

Zotero

Zotero is a free, open-source citation management software application that provides similar functionality to RefWorks.

Where RefWorks is cloud-based (used in browser), Zotero is a downloadable application; both tools offer synchronization across devices.
