Oberlin College Archives

Locating Archives

ArchiveGrid provides links to finding aids for archival collections in the United States. It is an excellent first step to determining if an archival collection that address your topic exists. If you can't find a relevant collection in ArchiveGrid, try locating historical societies or institutional archives that focus on the topic of your search (e.g. the Oberlin College Archives or Oberlin Heritage Center for Oberlin history), and peruse their website. Background or reference sources discussing various topics, like American National Biography or Wikipedia, will sometimes indicate where particular collections are held.
