We hope this site demonstrating specific string playing techniques will be helpful to you in your playing or teaching of the violin, viola, cello or bass.
Each video clip is a minute or less and demonstrates a specific technique performed with a violinist, violist, cellist and bassist together. These performers are students at the Oberlin Conservatory.
The musical examples were taken from the New Directions for Strings method book and A Scale in Time each written by Joanne Erwin, Kathleen Horvath, Robert McCashin and Brenda Mitchell and published in 2006 and 2012 respectively by the FJH Music Co.
