Appraising & Conserving Works of Art: Home

Appraisers

We suggest you contact national professional associations to find out about local appraisers suited to your needs. We urge you to ask the associations about the levels of members' accreditation--standards and required training vary widely. Readers can then contact specific appraisers by phone to ascertain their expertise, experience, and fees, and to request a portfolio containing their qualifications. While an initial discussion may be complimentary, appraisers charge for consultation, travel, photography, and time.

Art Conservation

We suggest contacting the American Institute for Conservation of Historic & Artistic Works about certified conservators in the area.
